City of Pomona
Temple Avenue Train Diversion Fact Sheet

Construction Notice - Datos y Avisos

Project Description
To help minimize congestion, beginning at the border of the cities of Pomona and Industry, trains that currently cross Temple Avenue and Pomona Boulevard at-grade will be diverted east to existing parallel Union Pacific tracks. The new track connection will cross property owned by Cal Poly Pomona and will include railroad bridges across the San Jose Creek and State Street. Modifications will be done to the UPRR track and sound walls will be built on the property owned by Lanterman Developmental Center.

Project Status
Construction commenced on the Temple Avenue Train Diversion Project in May 2005. Railroad bridges have been constructed across San Jose Creek and to provide a vehicle underpass for the Spadra Farm. Retaining walls have been constructed near State Route 71. Construction of a new Lanterman Developmental Center audiology lab is nearing completion. Pier protection walls and bridge structure work is underway. Construction is expected to be completed in Fall 2007 at an estimated cost of $63.4 million.

Project Impacts
Trains will be redirected east to parallel tracks that are already grade separated with Temple and other local streets. This will eliminate train traffic at at-grade crossings at Temple Avenue and Pomona Boulevard located in the City of Pomona
